Written Lying Next to A Man

My love for you lies still, a nut in its densest shell, vibrating. You spun the smoke of the past and blew it in my eyes. Until now I thought I was the Likeliest Person Alive. Today whole body high turned to whole body ache, shoulders heaving, stomach rippling. I wanted to spend the quietest of quiet moments with you, Into my arms. Oh Lord.

I loved you so deeply. I could have pretended to be an ingénue for you forever. Stubborn as you are, I loved you. Wild as you are, I loved you for it.

How can one be free without being helpless? That is something neither of us understand—but especially you. You are the most helpless of them all, just someon pretending to have flown long distances without the muscle memory. You and I know you pretended, but I loved you too much, far too much to tell you. Was that a lie?
